About

I’m Andy Currie, a retired professional photographer based in Gourock, Scotland, who used to specialise in Weddings, Portraits and small Events photography. I have all of my own teeth and a few modern additions, a full head of increasingly transparent hair, have recently taken to wearing glasses and am probably 6 inches under height for my weight. I’m also Dad to two beautiful and talented daughters, and I’m possibly the youngest looking Grandad you've ever seen...

I was born and bred in Greenock, but now live in Gourock with my wife Karen. We have two beautiful and talented daughters, both Honours graduates of Glasgow University. Lesley was married to Stephen in March 2014, while Gill married James in January 2015. We also have two beautiful, smart and loved grand-daughters called Kathryn and Genevieve.
My passion has always been for photography. It's been at the centre of my life since I was 12, and I've been fortunate enough to evolve my photographic skills as I went along! I’ve been involved in photography for over 40 years now, eventually turning my passion into a business in its own right. I've covered several aspects of photography - weddings, sports, photojournalism, portraiture, landscape photography and then teaching photography.
Over the years, I have shot over 1000 weddings in some of the countries most illustrious venues. We started our own photo holiday company, Scottish Photo Tours, in 2002 and attracted over 350 photographers from 19 countries in that time and were featured in Practical Photography magazine in 2004.
I've done work for several big clients including Mirror Group Newspapers, Forth & Clyde Press, IBM, Scottish Power, Ramada Hotels, BSkyB and several smaller companies. I've also had pictures and articles published in several photographic magazines over the years, as well as having my personal work exhibited in the Dean Gallery, National Galleries of Scotland, Edinburgh.
Nowadays I'm back working in Engineering, having retired from pro photography due to a bad shoulder injury in 2015.
